Horn Fork Guides (HFG) is one of the most unique outfitting permits in the lower 48, guiding in the San Isabel National Forest. HFG has camps located in both the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area and Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area. HFG operates in 5 big game units, 6 bighorn sheep units, 4 mountain goat units, and over a million acres of public land to hunt mountain lions. HFG can hunt 8 of the 9 big game species in Colorado, with the exception being desert bighorns. Hunters with HFG can hunt easy draw units up to trophy units that take 20 preference points. In the summer, HFG offers day rides, pack trips, and fishing trips.
Flat Tops Wilderness Guides (FTWG) in the White River National Forest with majority of the camps in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. All camps are only accessible via horseback or on foot. Camps vary from just under 2 hours to 5 hours horseback ride. FTWG offers hunters lodge-based guided elk, mule deer, and black bear hunts in its 5 star lodge nestled on the edge of the wilderness and surrounded on three sides by public land. For those looking for a true wilderness experience, FTWG has 25 USFS allocated camps that are used for guided hunts, drop camps, and summer fishing/pack trips. Located in GMU 25, over the counter tags and guaranteed draw tags make planning hunts a breeze!
River’s Bend Outfitters (RBO) operates in the White River National Forest with the majority of the camps inside the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Camps are only accessible on horseback or foot; some camps are up to a 4 hour ride. RBO offers tent-based, fully guided hunts and drop camp hunts. RBO operates in GMU 24. This GMU requires a handful of preference points for hunters to draw an archery or muzzleloader elk tag. The rifle season elk tags are a little easier to draw... as long as hunters put in for it, they get the tag. In the summer, RBO offers those looking for an adventure pack trips, horseback rides, and multi-day fishing trips to rivers, creeks, and lakes.
